Special Funds

A meaningful way to remember a time of joy or sorrow is with a contribution to a Temple Ohav Shalom special fund, or by purchasing a simcha leaf for display in the foyer, or a memorial plaque to go on one of the memorial boards mounted in the sanctuary.  See below for a brief description:
  • Rabbi's Discretionary Fund:  Enables the Rabbi to fund tzedakah and chesed projects at his discretion that might no be feasible without additional funds.
  • Building Fund:  Provides additional funding for unforeseen building and maintenance issues.
  • Life Long Learning Fund:  Provides "extras" for our religious school and adult education programs (e.g., speakers, educational outings, special resources) beyond what is covered in the regular operating budget.
  • Temple Beautification Fund:  Used to help with beautifying the synagogue.
  • Music Fund:  Supports the purchase of materials for our cantorial program.
  • Preschool Fund:  Supports our multifaceted Reggio Emilia-style preschool program.
  • Noah Mass Family Medical Fund:  Provides support for congregation families with acute emergency medical needs.
  • Simcha Leaf:  Buy a leaf to put on the simcha tree in the foyer to celebrate a happy occasion ($72).
  • Memorial Plaque:  Buy a plaque to memorialize a loved one on one of the memorial boards hanging in the sanctuary ($250).
  • Prayer Book Fund:  Supports the purchase of new prayer books and Torah commentaries.
  • Refugee Fund:  Supports the work of the refugee committee, helping to resettle refugee families in the Pittsburgh region.
