A new school year
Information about the 2020-2021 school year coming soon.
2019-2020: Last year we kicked off a yearly education theme. For 2019-20, it’s Derek Eretz! We explored how we interact with others in this world, as viewed through a Jewish lens. We introduced JCAFE – our new 11th and 12th grade program! During the year, we had opportunities for parents to come and be a part of the school day. We also continued our partnership with JLine for our 8th through 10th graders. It’s was a great year, and we can’t wait for the learning journey to continue!

Our goal at Temple Ohav Shalom Religious School is to build a community of Life Long Jewish Learners. We welcome all families into our community, and encourage students and families to make connections with each other both in and out of the classroom. In the classroom our teachers engage the students in Jewish learning about Torah, Hebrew, Tikkun Olam (the repair of our world), Jewish history, Jewish identity, art, music and much more. Beyond the classroom, we engage our families and develop community through family programming where we invite parents to join their children in Jewish learning, in opportunities for parents to learn on their own, and with First Friday dinners and services.
By attending Shabbat and holiday worship services students are learning to become a part of our congregational community, learning the prayers and songs we sing during services and reinforcing their Hebrew. There are many different opportunities to celebrate Shabbat at Temple Ohav Shalom, starting with the youngest learners at Tot Shabbat, school age students at Family services and every one of our Friday evening and Saturday morning services are appropriate for families to join the congregation in prayer. Throughout the year we have many special holiday programs for entire families to enjoy.
By strengthening faith in God, a love of Torah and the identification with Israel and the Jewish people, we are striving to build our community of life long learners who possess the skills, information and values that give meaning and joy to a fulfilling Jewish life. Our education program embraces a variety of learning and engaging activities and experiences, which encourage children and adults to follow the goal of life long Jewish education and commitment.
