Technology Upgrades at TOS

It's been a busy summer at TOS! Along with some changes you will clearly see when you visit TOS and come to the Education Wing, we've made quite a few changes you CAN'T see.

First, we've dramatically upgraded our security system. Along with cameras covering every point of entry and much of the grounds, the front doors are protected using a key fob system. Key fobs are provided to Temple staff and board members, along with a select few members based on specific needs. If you don't have a fob, you can always get in by hitting the door intercom button, where those inside the building can see you, speak through the intercom, and buzz you in from various points in the building.

Next, we've overhauled our wireless network. The TOS Guest login and password are still the same, but you will see a noticeable improvement in your ability to keep your device connected, no matter where you are in the building. Note that the guest Wifi is limited to 5mbps download and 1mbps upload, in order to reduce individual overload of the network. If you experience any issues with WiFi in the building, please contact webmaster@templeohavshalom.org with your feedback.

Some of the other technology projects we are actively engaged in include:
  • Updating the youth lounge - we've already improved the overhead lighting, and there's a project underway to hang the TV, add new furniture and amenities, and make it a safe, comfortable space for teens to congregate.
  • Live streaming - we are exploring options to stream services into other areas of the building, for example during High Holidays when nursing mothers or parents of young ones aren't able to be in the sanctuary, they will be able to watch the active service from another room (to be determined) within the building.
If you would like to volunteer your services or time to any of these efforts, please contact the Temple and let us know!
